'Andhra Hercules' Mr. Raja Gopal Dandamudi

 DANDAMUDI RAJAGOPALRAO born in Gandigunta village in Krishna district (Andhrapradesh)in 1916 represented India in the Olympics for three consecutive years, yet an unsung hero.                                                                                  

ANDHRA PRADESH had its own share of outstanding performances by its players at the Olympics. But sadly those great sportspersons remain far from limelight. Dandamudi Rajagopal of Vijayawada is rarely discussed ever when critics trace the history and the evolution of Olympics over the years.

 Dandamudis  feats attracted people all over the country. He used to break iron chains tied to his body by taking a deep breath and flexing his muscles.

1. Dandamudi was a Indian weightlifting champion for 13 years from 1945 to 58
2. Dandamudi won Mr.Asia title in 1948 at calcutta in Asian body building competition.
3. Dandamudi is 1st  person from Andhra who participated in Common Wealth games. 
4. Dandamudi was conferred with various titles as  Andhrabhima, Andhrahercules , Indian Tarzan and The Giant of India.
